Welcome to Independent Arts

Independent Arts is a small, unique, local and independent registered charity, established in 1987. We provide therapeutic, creative arts activities and projects for people with special needs living on the Isle of Wight - particularly the disabled, those with learning difficulties, and the elderly.

Our activities are designed to improve confidence, self-esteem and motivation, and give people a chance to have fun and socialise.

Community Sculpture

We are committed to enhancing the quality of life for our clients, through a wide variety of art-based activities. We believe that our stimulating and creative activities enable people to concentrate on ability, rather than disability.

Every individual has potential that can be released, thereby providing a sense of purpose and personal achievement. Activities with a participatory element provide the greatest benefit of all.

We also promote a positive attitude to older people within the services and community at large.

In all that we do, we strive to encourage an atmosphere of peace, tranquillity, community, mutual respect, trust and profound learning away from the fast pace and demands of modern day society.

A vacancy has arisen for a Services Coordinator to manage the commercial services aspect of the charity. We currently have a large team of freelance practitioners who specialise in delivering art- and music-based therapies across the Island and the Coordinator will liaise with clients and practitioners to ensure the smooth running of the service, as well as providing administrative support to the Manager. The ideal candidate will be IT-proficient and will have a keen interest in developing the company's administrative procedures, marketing and database systems.

An interest in art and the welfare of disadvantaged people would be particularly relevant.

This is currently a part-time post of 20 hours per week based at Independent Arts' offices in Newport.
